On July 2, 2026,ย Governor Greg Abbott disclosedย the news of FormFactor Inc. awarded Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund – TSIFย grant of $24.2 million for a new probe card manufacturing facility located inย Farmers Branch. With FormFactor Inc. awarded Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund, the high-techย manufacturing facility is projected to generate over 600 jobs and goes on to representย $140 million to $170 million in terms ofย capital investment in 2026.
According to Governor Abbott, โTexas is where the technologies of tomorrow are manufactured today. I congratulate FormFactor on choosing Texas for this expansion. Their sizable investment in an advanced manufacturing facility in Farmers Branch fills a gap in the domestic semiconductor supply chain, creates hundreds of new, high-skilled jobs in North Texas, and advances Texasโ leadership in semiconductor manufacturing.โ
It is well to be noted that FormFactor is the leading supplier of electrical and optical test andย measurement technologies spanning the semiconductor product life cycle. The Farmers Branch premises used to manufacture core probe card products of FormFactor, which are theย components utilized for testing integrated circuits while performing the wafer-level manufacturing process.
According to Mike Slessor, FormFactor CEO Inc., โWe are pleased to partner with the State of Texas as we expand FormFactorโs manufacturing capacity. As the worldโs leading supplier of advanced probe cards, which are used by global manufacturers of the logic and memory chips at the heart of the AI revolution and modern data centers, we play a critical role in the global semiconductor industry. We are grateful for Texasโ strong support of both FormFactorโs growth and the continued expansion of the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem.โ
Senator Tan Parker says that โTexas has become the nation’s leader in semiconductor manufacturing because we understand the importance of investing in the industries that drive economic growth, technological innovation, and national security. FormFactor’s investment in Farmers Branch is a tremendous win for North Texas, bringing hundreds of high-skilled jobs and strengthening a critical component of America’s semiconductor supply chain. We are excited to welcome FormFactor to Senate District 12.โ
As per Representative Cassandra Garcia Hernandez, โThis $24.2 million TSIF grant is a monumental win for Farmers Branch and a testament to our communityโs ability to host the future of tech manufacturing. By bringing FormFactorโs advanced probe card facility to our district, we are not only creating hundreds of high-skilled, good-paying jobs for local residents, but we are also anchoring a critical piece of the global semiconductor ecosystem right here in our backyard. This strategic investment solidifies our statewide commitment to keeping Texas at the forefront of global technological innovation while sustaining our regional booming economy.โ
Apparently, it was in 2023 thatย Governor Abbott enacted into law the Texas CHIPS Act, which established the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund –ย TSIF,ย a grant program in order toย sustain theย leadership of Texasย in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing, along with the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Consortium –ย TSIC.
These programs, which wereย administered by the Texas CHIPS Office in the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office at theย Office of the Governor, are intended to capitalize on theย investments by Texasย in the semiconductor industry, promote semiconductor-related businesses to grow in the state, strengthen the knowledge and capacity of Texas institutions of higher education, and preserve the position of the stateย as a nationalย leader when it comes toย semiconductor manufacturing.
