Advanced Optical Fiber Cable Manufacturing in Europe

AI Summary

InfraTech Capitalโ€™s optical fiber cable manufacturing platform, InfraTech Cables, on September 24 went ahead andย announced that Poland has been chosen as the location for its next destination for advanced optical fiber cable manufacturing in Europe as well as technology campus. The project is 100% financed by InfraTech Capital and its corresponding investment partners and will be developed under the leadership and supervision of InfraTech Capital Italia.

The proposed campus is designed to create a long-term European manufacturing hub when it comes toย advanced optical connectivity products that serve telecommunications carriers,ย AI and hyperscale data centers, broadband networks and various other high-capacity digital infrastructure markets.

The development is being set up as an integrated platform for manufacturing, engineering and qualification, as opposed to aย stand-alone production facility.

Manufacturing capabilities will be developed for a variety of loose-tube, microcable, ADSS, and high-fiber-count as well as advanced rollable-ribbon cable architectures with particular focus in terms ofย high-density designs for environments where fiber capacity, cable diameter, pathway utilization, installation efficiency and network scalability are becoming more important.

It is worth noting that aย Centre of Excellence for Optical Communications, comprising dedicated R&D and product engineering as well as an Optical Engineering and Qualification Center, will be on campus. The capabilities go on toย support new product development, materials and process engineering, and prototype evaluation, along with customer-specific qualification and optical, mechanical, and environmental testing to applicable global standards as well as customer demands.

According to President and Chairman of InfraTech Capital, Luiz Fuschini, this investment marks an important step in establishing InfraTech Cables as a manufacturing company with its own global operating platform. The capital framework is in place, the European development structure is established, and our focus now is execution. We intend to build an operation capable of supporting the next generation of optical infrastructure, particularly the density and performance requirements being created by AI, hyperscale computing and increasingly complex telecommunications networks.โ€

InfraTech Capital Italia will run the European development program from Milan, overseeing project execution, strategic alliances, engineering, and supply-chain development, as well as certainย regional commercial activities. InfraTech Capital will maintain its role as sponsor, governor and strategic overseer as InfraTech Cables develops its own manufacturing, engineering and commercial profile.

Remarks the Chief Operating Officer, InfraTech Capital, Aloysio Bleyer, โ€œThe operating model is being designed around repeatability, qualification discipline and scale. High-density optical networks require more than additional production capacity. They require tight process control, advanced testing, qualified materials, engineering depth and a supply chain that can perform consistently across markets. Bringing manufacturing, R&D and qualification together on one campus provides us the structure to build those capabilities from the beginning.โ€

Poland was chosen for advanced optical fiber cable manufacturing in Europe in terms of the next phase of development due to its established advanced manufacturing base, technical workforce, transportation infrastructure and alsoย access to key European markets. InfraTech Capital Italia and InfraTech Cables are working through the site, engineering, infrastructure and government workstreams in connection with the project.

The facility will be designed with a modular production architecture that will enable the manufacturing capacity and product capability to grow in accordance with customer demands and market requirements. The European campus will add to theย broader global manufacturing and supply network of InfraTech Cables and is designed to improve geographic diversification and lead-time performance as well asย supply-chain resilience.

As the project progresses through future stages of development, further information will be provided on the final site, manufacturing capacity, employment, construction timeline and start of operations.
