TTM Technologies, Inc., which is a leading andย prominent U.S. manufacturer when it comes toย advanced electronics as well as interconnect solutions for aerospace, defense and high-technology markets, on June 22, 2026, went on toย announceย the unveiling and official launch of its new ultra-high-density interconnect printed circuit board manufacturing plant in Syracuse, New York, which apparently is indeedย a major investment when it comes toย domestic defense electronics manufacturing.
It is well to be noted that thisย new 215,000 square foot ultra-HDI printed circuit board manufacturing plant facility on theย existing campus of TTMย in Syracuse is one of the first in the nation to be built specifically for ultra-HDI PCBs as well as advanced packaging production pertaining toย defense and aerospace programs. The investment will result in almost 400 new engineering and manufacturing jobs, raising theย Central New York workforce of TTMย to about 1,000 employees; hence, in a way,ย further strengthening theย standing of the regionย as one ofย the premier hubs in America in terms ofย advanced microelectronics manufacturing.
According to EVP and President of Aerospace & Defense at TTM Technologies, “This is more than a facility it is a statement about where American defense manufacturing is headed. Our defense customers need trusted, domestic, ultra-high-density interconnect production capability that meets the most demanding program requirements in the world. Today, we bring that capability to the United States. This investment strengthens the U.S. microelectronics supply chain, deepens our commitment to Central New York, and positions TTM to support the next generation of defense and national security technologies for decades to come.”
Notably, theย Syracuse facility fills quite a crucialย gap within theย U.S. defense industrial base.ย The fact is that the Ultra-HDI PCBs allow unmatched levels ofย miniaturization along withย performance density as far asย advanced electronics are concerned, therebyย enabling next-genย defense platforms such as the likes ofย radar systems, space-based sensors, missile defense architectures,ย and autonomous systems.
Interestingly, there has been very little localย production capacity for these advanced board technologies, with most of the production of the worldย taking place in Asia.
The U.S. Department of War has gone on toย contributeย $30 million to the project, adding to the general investment made in Syracuse along with recognizing the strategic significance of the site to national security and its fit with the local microelectronics revitalization.
First announced in November 2023 and honored with a beam-signing ceremony with Governor Kathy Hochul in October 2024, the plant expands on TTMโs 60+ year manufacturing footprint in Syracuse and its long track record as a reliable partner when it comes to theย aerospace and defense industrial base of the country.
