As TCL celebrates making its 100 millionth unit, the company has opened a new AI-Powered AC manufacturing facility in Guangzhou, China.
The new factory, which cost RMB 2 billion, equivalent to AUD 414.2 million, is expected to be able to make 8 million units a year, or about one air conditioner every seven seconds.
According to TCL’s press release, the complex covers 303 acres and has three fully automated lights-out factories that run 24 hours a day without any human help.
There are 15 high-tech labs and 10 smart production lines on the site. An AI supercomputing center controls more than 2,000 AI agents and many industrial robots, which lets it fully automate the production of crucial parts. AI helps the factory’s high-precision heat exchanger production line work 41.7% faster.
The new AI-Powered AC manufacturing facility was built with the environment in mind. It has 50,000 square meters of solar panels and an AI-powered energy management system. The tech company says that these features help make a production process that generates almost no waste or emissions.
CEO of TCL Industries Holdings, Du Juan, said, “Producing 100 million units is a landmark achievement that reflects the trust of customers worldwide. By using AI and smart technology, we remain committed to enhancing consumers’ quality of life while also contributing to a more sustainable future through energy-saving solutions and eco-friendly design.”
TCL has 47 research and development centers and 40 manufacturing bases around the world. Its operations are in over 160 countries and regions. The company is currently in third place in the world for the number of air conditioners sold.
