American Manufacturing Program from Apple to Expand

On March 26, 2026, American Manufacturing Program from Apple, as per the company would significantly expand. Four new partners – Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK, as well as Qnity Electronics are going to join the company’s supply chain in the U.S.

The companies will make important parts and materials in the U.S. for Apple products that are sold all over the world. Apple plans to spend $400 million on the new programs through 2030.

Tim Cook, the CEO, said that the move was a bet on American creativity and called the partnerships another powerful example of what is possible when we invest in U.S. manufacturing.

Under American Manufacturing Program from Apple, the new additions will create jobs and make the country’s manufacturing stronger.

The expansion speeds up Apple’s American Manufacturing Program – AMP, which is at the heart of its $600 billion, four-year promise to U.S. manufacturing and innovation.

In August 2025, Apple announced AMP and a $100 billion increase in spending. Cook and President Donald Trump were both at the White House for the announcement. Apple’s U.S. operations currently support more than 450,000 jobs in all 50 states. The company plans to hire 20,000 more people directly in R&D, silicon engineering, AI, and software development.

Apple has worked with TDK for more than 30 years, and now they will make sensors in the U.S. for the first time. The sensors, which include technology used to stabilize iPhone cameras, will be included in devices sold around the world. This will increase the number of chips Apple gets from U.S. silicon supply chains.

Bosch will make integrated circuits for sensing hardware at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing’s plant in Camas, Washington. These chips are necessary for Apple products to have features like Crash Detection and activity tracking.

At its Malta, New York, fab, Cirrus Logic will work with GlobalFoundries to make mixed-signal semiconductors, including advanced chips that power Face ID systems. Qnity Electronics and HD MicroSystems will give semiconductor manufacturing and high-performance computing the tools and materials they need.

TSMC’s factory in Arizona and GlobalFoundries are also chipmakers for Apple.

Apple has already surpassed its initial goal since AMP’s launch and acquired more than 20 billion U.S.-made chips from 24 factories in 12 states. By 2026, the company plans to buy more than 100 million advanced chips from TSMC’s Arizona fab, which is a big jump from 2025.

Amkor starting work on a $7 billion semiconductor packaging plant in Peoria, Arizona, where Apple will be the first and biggest customer, and GlobalWafers starting production at a new $4 billion silicon wafer plant in Sherman, Texas, are two other early wins. Corning’s factory in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, is now only making cover glass for iPhones and Apple Watches that are sent around the world.

Apple said in February 2026 that it would start making the Mac mini at its Houston factory later this year. This will be the first time the product is made in the U.S. The Houston campus, which is already making AI servers ahead of schedule, will double in size with the addition.

The first companies to work with AMP – Amkor, Applied Materials, Broadcom, Coherent, Corning, GlobalFoundries, GlobalWafers America, MP Materials, Samsung, as well as Texas Instruments – are already saying that they are making progress in bringing advanced manufacturing to the US.

The move shows that Apple is trying to strengthen its U.S. supply chain at a time when both Washington and the tech industry are focusing more on making things in the U.S., being more resilient, and relying less on overseas manufacturing.

Since Trump’s trade policies went into effect, Apple has had to pay about $3.3 billion in tariffs. Instead of passing those costs on to customers, Cook chose to pay them himself.

In February 2026, the Supreme Court struck down Trump’s tariff plans. This could change Apple’s cost outlook, but the company hasn’t said if it will try to get back what it has already paid.
