Ipswich to Be Manufacturing, Defence Capital of Queensland

Ipswich is all set to become manufacturing, defence capital of Queensland, Australia, with 8,000 hectares of industrial land available in the future.

Ipswich City Council has gone ahead and released a new investment prospectus called The City of Ipswich – Space to Grow, which lists the city’s competitive advantages.

It is well to be noted that Ipswich has more land set aside for commercial and industrial development as compared to any other city in South East Queensland.

Teresa Harding, the Ipswich mayor, said that the city is in a unique position so as to attract advanced manufacturing, defence, production, and innovation, as well as logistics.

Mayor Harding said that Ipswich is in a great place to help bring manufacturing back to Queensland and, along with it, Australia.

Ipswich is indeed a wonderful place for businesses to grow, and it is home to companies such as Coles, Suntory Oceania, Goodman Group, JBS, Rheinmetall, L’Oréal Groupe, Australia Post, FedEx, TAE Aerospace, Visy, CHEP, Sunny Queen, Bombardier, and DB Schenker, as well as Bapcor. Asahi and Officeworks are also constructing big buildings in Ipswich.

Apparently, manufacturing and defense are the city’s biggest industries. They make up about 60% of the city’s $8 billion in annual exports, and they want more of this kind of investment.

Teresa Harding says that “with a potential industrial land supply of 7,923 hectares – a supply bigger than that of all other Southeast Queensland local government areas combined – we have space planned for new commercial and industrial centres.”

The region as a whole is having trouble with the supply of industrial land, and Brisbane is expected to run out in just a few years. Ipswich is ready to meet the land needs of many different types of businesses. Manufacturing has a long and proud history in the city, and it is still one of the biggest employers in any field.

Mayor Harding says that they want to make sure that Ipswich is the manufacturing and defense capital of Queensland. This will bring money within the economy and create jobs for their residents, and it will also help their region and country as a whole to grow. The mayor said that Ipswich is a great place for business for many reasons, and Greenfield Supply is just one of them. Adds Mayor Harding, The City of Ipswich – Space to Grow investment prospectus highlights the city’s unique strengths as a location for investment, which includes the likes of workforce opportunities and geographical advantages, as well as their growth mindset when it comes to business.

Ipswich has a strong local workforce supply with a population of 270,000 on track to double to more than half a million by 2046, driven by priority residential growth areas, having a median age that is lower than that of Queensland overall.

Ipswich’s location next to the Brisbane, Logan, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley, and Somerset local government areas connects them to millions of people and gives them access to the west of the state.

The fact is that Ipswich’s economy is booming at $15 billion, growing at 4.2% per year, with more than 13,000 businesses and 95,000 jobs. The mayor adds that they are indeed excited for others to join them on this path of growth.

She says that they will keep bringing high-value projects to Ipswich that create jobs, attract capital investment, and also help our local industries grow via their Economic Development Incentive Policy.

Managing Director of Officeworks, John Gualtieri, talked about why the company chose Ipswich as the site for its new omnichannel distribution center, which is currently being constructed at Redbank Motorway Estate.

Mr. Gualtieri said this is indeed a big investment in the future of Officeworks and in how they can better serve their customers across all channels to make their big ideas come to life.

This highly automated, future-ready Omnichannel Distribution Center is located in Redbank and has convenient access to major transportation links, located in an area with a growing local workforce. It will help them streamline their operations, create hundreds of local jobs, and also give the team a much safer and more modern workplace. The City of Ipswich – Space to Grow investment prospectus has been backed by Jess Caire, who is the Queensland executive director of the Property Council of Australia.

Ipswich’s size, available land, and industrial capacity make it a natural home for Queensland’s next phase of manufacturing and defence investment, Ms. Caire said. And eyeing to be manufacturing, defence capital of Queensland is no long shot.

As the demand for industrial land grows across South East Queensland, Ipswich stands out as one of the few places that can accommodate large employers at the scale they need.

This kind of long-term, job-focused investment is very important for making the whole region’s economy more productive, its supply chains stronger, and also its ability to bounce back from problems.
